WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE WOOD?

Sustainable wood refers to wood that is sustainably sourced from plantations in various parts of the world. This means that when the hard wood has reached maturity, it is cut and replanted to continue the cycle. Besides being Certified ourselves, all of SOEK’s material suppliers are also certified by the FSC. This verification is part of our process to ensure that our resources come only from ethically sourced and managed forests which are bound by the sustainable forestry management standards of the FSC.

WHAT ARE POLARISED LENSES?

Polarised lenses have a teeny-tiny film across the lenses that normally (to us, the non-scientists) look like a mirror. It’s actually a chemical compound that in essence prevent glare from entering your eye directly. Our eyes capture light that is deflected off multiple angles. However, when the area is smooth, flat, and highly reflective (i.e. the sea and snow), more light is reflected into our eyes as the light waves have not been scattered.

Polarised lenses are ideal for anyone who wears sunglasses outdoors. Those who wear polarised lenses will notice a drastic reduction in glare and an improvement in both colour vibrancy and clarity. Polarised lenses are very popular with drivers, sailors, fisherman and skiers or snowboarders however they are also great for everyday use.

ARE SOEK SUNNIES WATER RESISTANT?

Yes, they most certainly are! That being said, you should try to keep them dry when possible or dry them off if they do get wet. Rinse with freshwater if in contact with saltwater.
